Black-tailed deer in Olympic National Park
No visit to the Northwest would be complete without a trip to the great outdoors. On this outing we incorporate not only a remarkable visit to the Olympic National Park but also two scenic ferry rides and a delightful historic tour of Washington’s Victorian seaport Port Townsend. To enlighten your journey we have comedic historian and an exuberant naturalist both of whom provide energy and depth to the itinerary.

After a scenic half hour ferry ride, our first stop will be Port Townsend the “City of Dreams” which is regarded as one of the best-preserved examples of a Victorian seaport in the United States. While in Port Townsend you can step back in time and take a peek into its boisterous and brawling past. You will witness its grand vision for the future by surveying the fabulous buildings and Victorian fantasy mansions. After taking in the scenery and gossip, all of our guests will have the opportunity to shop and eat along the quiet seaside downtown district. The National Trust honored this district for it’s Historic Preservation with the Great American Main Street Award.

Our next destination is the Olympic National Park, which has the distinction of being a Biosphere Reserve & World Heritage Park. The park contains a pristine ecosystem, with over twelve hundred varieties of plants, over three hundred species of birds and seventy species of mammals. Showcasing the park is Hurricane Ridge located at 5200 feet. Atop this strategic ridge visitors can enjoy stunning views of sub-alpine meadows in bloom with a riot of wildflowers, glacial summits, deep river valleys and broad vistas of the Straits of Juan de Fuca.

We finish the tour with a spectacular ferry crossing into downtown Seattle. The ride from Bainbridge to Seattle is considered one of the most romantic in all of the United States. Guests will enjoy a panoramic view of the Space Needle, downtown skyline and Mt. Rainier. Truly a wonderful way to end a fantastic day!
